Roof Guardian (attic roof ventilator)

Roof Guardian is one of our attic roof ventilators.  This product is one of our Guardian Series units.  The Guardian Series units are a tested design that restricts fire, ember, sand, and any other items pushed by the outside air toward your structure or home.  With Roof  Guardian you will obtain the needed extraction of moisture and heat while protecting the attic area from wind blown harm.

This unit was independently tested and received an “A” rating (link to tape).  We hope that the pictures included will show you just what Roof Guardian was subjected to.  Our patent pending design stopped the intrusion of fire and embers from passing through the unit into the attic area.  You can now have the ventilation without the venerability.  Making your home a hard target when it comes to wild fires and sandstorms.

Every year more homeowners have eliminated roof vents all together to protect against the wind blown hazards that will come their way.  This approach will work for a while but eventually, moisture will accumulate and damage to the structure will begin from within.  Heat build up in the summer is costly in several ways.  The first obvious expense is cooling your home below the hot attic.  The cost of running 120-volt exhaust unit is a tiny faction (about $2.00 per "summer" month) of the cost to offset the heat buildup cooling your home.  The second cost to heat build up is shingle and decking damage.  Excessive heat will reduce the economic life of these vital and costly roofing elements.   Your shingles will bake from within at 200 degrees, cuting their economic life in half.

During the winter a roof system without adequate ventilation will experience condensation on the wooden members.  Moisture will accumulate under the roof dome like an inverted jar year round.  As the temperatures drop (winter), the moisture will condense on the surfaces, your roof rafter and decking.  This process is known as “dry rot” and occurs in the crawl space as well.  The beads of water form during the winter and the wood starts to rot.  Then as the heat returns (summer), the droplets evaporate into the warm air and “disappears” and the wood appears dry.  Once this process plays out for several years your wooden members will require replacement.

You had to make a decision between the dangers from outside or the dangers from within.  You can now have the benefits of ventilation while protecting your home from windblown dangers.  We will provide your structure with the protection you have been looking for.  When you have to evacuate your home due to wild fires it is our goal to add to the protection of your home so you have it to come back to.
Oh, Roof Guardian is still working just fine after the testing.  The shingles needed replacing but Roof Guardian, other than a bit darkened by the flames, was good to go.
